The first book

Making Friends
and a Mess

Captain wants to make a friend.
He just isn’t sure how.

Then he sees a boy land in a muddy puddle. SPLAT! The boy and his friends laugh together. That gives Captain an idea: what if he makes them laugh too?

He sets to work making silly pants. Jelly pants are one of his attempts. But will getting a laugh help him make a friend?

The second book

The Backyard
Monster

One little tent.
One very big shadow.

Captain is determined to camp in the backyard all night, with Dad in the tent next door. When a scratch at the tent sends him scrambling, he equips his Camping Pants with lights and noisy surprises to scare things away.

Then a huge shadow fills the tent wall. Are his inventions enough for whatever is outside?

The person behind the stories

Hello,
I’m Steve.

Steve

Captain began with bedtime stories for my daughter, Amy.

When Amy was young, I read to her at bedtime. I wasn’t allowed to leave after just one story, so it didn’t take long before we’d read every book in the house at least once.

Then I started making up characters and stories of my own. Captain Giggle Pants was Amy’s favourite… and mine.

Now I’m turning those stories into picture books.
